Federal Industries Minister Rana Tanvir has said that Federal Government is introducing a new electric vehicles policy which will help curb pollution and reduce the fuel import bill of the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Talking to media, Rana Tanvir said that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has given the task of introducing electric vehicles policy. He said Prime Minister has recommended new incentives in Electric Vehicles Policy.
He said two and three wheeler electric vehicles were being developed in Pakistan and a company was also developing a four-wheeler electric vehicle. Rana Tanveer said next year another company will introduce four wheeler electric vehicle.
Federal Minister said government was providing easy loans banks for electric vehicles and 50 billion rupees subsidy was being kept for electric motorcycle and 3 wheelers.
He said 40 charging stations will be established on the motorway. He said government will take steps to provide affordable charging and steps are being taken to swap batteries. Rana Tanvir said worldwide electric vehicles are coming out with new technology.
He said so far 2 licenses have been issued and 31 companies have applied. Rana Tanveer said electric motorcycles and rickshaws were being made in Pakistan.
He said a company has also made a vehicle. Rana Tanvir said Prime Minister had allocated 4 billion rupees for offering subsidies on motorcycles and rickshaws. A subsidy of Rs 50 thousand will be given on motorcycles and Rs 2 lakh on rickshaws.
Federal Minister said 50 thousand rupees subsidy will be given on 40 thousand motorcycle while 120 electric motorcycles will be awarded to the toppers students from all over Pakistan. Rana Tanveer said subsidy will be given through lottery.
