World Bank terms HEC, NCHD burden on government

Terming the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) a burden on the federal government, the World Bank (WB) has suggested to the government to get rid of these two departments, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

Sources told 24News that the bank had demanded the government to place these two departments under the provincial government’s supervision.

Quoting bank officials, they said if taken the step would save federal government Rs70 billion.   

They disclosed that the bank officials were concerned that the Center continued to interfere in the affairs delegated to provinces.
