100 incidents of laser light throwing at planes reported this year

Incidents of throwing laser light on planes at different airports of the country could not be stopped as more than 100 incidents of laser light throwing on planes of domestic and foreign airlines were reported in last eight months, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
According to Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) sources, the highest number of 37 incidents were reported at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, followed by Lahore with 33 incidents.
Last year, not less than 193 laser light throwing incidents were reported, sources said.
PAA sources further said that laser light is a flight safety risk that can cause landing problems for the pilots and now it is routine practice for pilots to report a laser light incident.
Pakistan Airport Authority marks the area to the district administration regarding laser light incidents.
The authority is in constant touch with the district administration regarding prevention of laser light incidents, PAA sources added.
Large laser lights on restaurants and wedding halls around the airport are one of the reasons for such incidents, PAA sources said.
