Heatwave affecting large parts of country to persist until April 23

The Met Office on Monday predicted the heatwave presently gripping several parts of the country to continue until April 23, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

It forecast that the weather would remain extremely hot and dry in Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab during the aforementioned period, while strong winds would blow in southern Punjab and upper Sindh in the afternoon.  

The Met Office, however, said that rain, accompanied by strong winds, was expected at a few places in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and KP during the period under review. 

Extreme heat persists in Karachi   

Meanwhile, the weather remains extremely hot in Karachi as the Met Office said that the maximum temperature on Monday was likely to go up to 41 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature would touch the 27 degrees Celsius mark.  

Winds were blowing from the north-westerly direction at the speed of six kilometers per hour, while the level of humidity in the air was recorded between 50 and 60 per cent. 

And to make matters worse, there is no chance of rain at least in the near future that could offer some respite to the residents of the city. 

Temperatures rising in Lahore

On the other hand, temperatures in Lahore are rising with each passing day, making people feel suffocated.  

The maximum temperature in the city was likely to reach 37 degrees Celsius later in the afternoon while the minimum temperature was expected to touch the 21 degrees Celsius mark. 

The Met Office forecast hot and dry weather for the provincial capital during the next 24 hours.
