The Punjab Police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), in their joint operation in Makarwal in Mianwali, have killed over 10 militants, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Spokesman for the Punjab Police on Monday said that there were reports of several militants getting injured in the operation, which, he said, was still underway.
Security forces continued to confront the remaining militants hiding in the area, he added.
He informed that a local man got injured when the militants shot at his leg. “He was shifted to a hospital,” he added.
The spokesman informed that all police and the CTD officers as well as personnel, including DPO Mianwali Akhtar Farooq, were safe.
He further said that Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. Usman Anwar had lauded the Mianwali Police for a successful operation that resulted in the deaths of over 10 militants. “He has said that the provincial police are alert and will not relent until the elimination of the last terrorist.”
