Former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif said on Wednesday it was unfortunate that a few men threw out the prime minister who was elected by 25 crore people of Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing the PML-N’s parliamentary board meeting in Lahore, he said not only he was declared ineligible for becoming a member of the parliament, but that ineligibility was for life. “Look what that pampered boy (Imran Khan) did to the country who was made to sit on the throne out of fear for my party’s victory in the general elections of 2018,” he said, adding, “Every Pakistani is in grief over what the country was made to go through when Imran was the prime minister.”
“Who developed the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC); who built the motorways? Who launched metro bus service for the poor people? Has anybody else done as much work as we did when we were in power?” the former prime minister questioned.

These were the PML-N governments, Nawaz added, which eliminated loadshedding from the country and restored peace in Karachi. “When I was the prime minister, Pakistan was prosperous. The country was ahead of other countries in the region,” he claimed.
“Every day millions of people were getting jobs. The rate of the US dollar did not increase even by a single paisa under my government.”
Emphasizing the provision of equal opportunities for men and women, Nawaz said it was necessary if the nation was to progress.
He said that Islam lays emphasis on the protection of women’s rights. “If given education, women can play a far more active role in the country’s development,” he opined.
