Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, a Member of the Provincial Assembly from Barkhan, has allegedly been a habitual criminal as various evidence suggested that he is involved in detaining and killing his challengers.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, his previous criminal record shows that he has been facing charges such as kidnapping, sexual assault, and murder. But being an influential and powerful tribe head, the law enforcement agencies always fail to keep him under the law.

In January 2014, law enforcement agencies recovered seven people including two women, and three children from his private jail. Six proclaimed absconders were also found in the cell.

In a recent utterly inhuman and woeful incident, three bodies including a mother and his two sons were found in a well in Barkhan. The victims including a mother and her seven children were held hostage in a private prison by Sardar Khetran. The police confirmed that the victims include the wife of a local namely Khan Mohammad Marri and his two sons. The bodies of three victims left for Quetta from Kohlu. A protest will be held by arriving at the dead bodies in Quetta. The relatives also blamed the provincial minister Abdul Rahman Khetran for the killing.

Khan Mohammed worked as a bodyguard of Abdul Rehman Khetran for more than one year. But he developed some differences with Sardar Khetran due to which he fled from Barkhan but his family was arrested and held hostage.

Khan Mohammad’s wife recently released a video message and pleaded for her family’s release from the private jail of MPA Khetran.

In her previous request through local sources, she also said that she and her daughter were sexually assaulted by Abdul Rehman Khetran routinely.

Khan Mohammad said that his other children and relatives are still being held by Sardar Khetran. He demanded their immediate release.

Abdul Rahman Khetran rejected the allegation, saying that he is ready to join any investigation regarding the killing of three persons. “There is an attempt to spoil my political reputation.”

Khetran is a member of BAP (Balochistan Awami Party) and is a strong ally of Balochistan’s Chief Minister Qudus Bezinjo.

Criticizing the government, Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan in his tweet said it failed to save innocent lives despite his pleasing on senate floor.

Ironically, All Pakistan Marri Ittehad also staged a protest demonstration outside Quetta Press Club and demanded the government to get release detaining several innocent people, including the wife and seven children of Khan Muhammad Marri from the private jail of Khetran. But it paid deaf ears to the government.

In 2014, police and Anti Terrorist Force (ATF) conducted a raid at the private jail of Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran recovered seven people including two women and three children from his private jail.

Six proclaimed absconders were also picked up by ATF and police. Police recovered arms and ammunition from their possession.

Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran surrendered to police in the aftermath of the registration of the kidnapping case against him in Barkhan Police Station. Police had registered cases against Khetran, his son and eight others for kidnapping three policemen and snatching weapons from them.
