Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has emphasized the necessity of preemptive action against terrorism rather than merely reacting to incidents post-facto, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Presiding over a meeting of the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NECTA) in Islamabad on Wednesday, he underscored the importance of swiftly neutralizing terrorist elements and their accomplices.
During the meeting it was decided to restructure the NECTA on modern lines and bring it on the front in the war against terrorism.
The meeting also paved the way for a forthcoming session of the Coordination Committee of the National Action Plan, scheduled for the following week, with Minister Naqvi slated to chair the proceedings.
Minister Naqvi left no room for ambiguity, declaring a firm stance against granting amnesty to any terrorist organization.
He stressed the imperative of promoting Pakistan's national narrative as a counterweight to the extremist ideologies perpetuated by terrorists.
Minister Naqvi also emphasized the urgency of formulating a robust strategy to combat terrorism and extremism effectively.
NECTA chairman Rai Tahir briefed the minister while Interior Secretary Aftab Akbar Durrani and senior officials attended the meeting.
