Detection of coronavirus in 545 new patients in Pakistan took the total number of infections in the country to 9,738 on Tuesday, with Punjab taking the lead with 4,328 cases.

According to official figures, the number of coronavirus cases in Sindh on Tuesday stood at 3,053, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1,345, Balochistan 495, Gilgit-Baltistan 281, Islamabad 185 and Azad Jammu and Kashmir 51. The number of recovered patients stood at 2,073 on Tuesday and deaths at 209.

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar announced in a tweet ”73 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Punjab, taking the provincial tally to 4,328”.

The province also recorded two deaths, with its death toll from Covid-19 so far rising to 51.

Chief Minister Buzdar revealed that 63,395 tests have so far been conducted in Punjab while random testing has also been started in Lahore.

He said that 1,602 of the coronavirus cases in Punjab are non-quarantined cases in different districts and remaining are in different quarantines. “Sadly, we've lost 51 precious lives, while 724 patients have fully recovered,” he said.
