Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Rabia Nusrat on Wednesday submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly urging the government to provide relief to people in the light of the free fall in global petroleum prices.

She demanded the government to decrease the petroleum prices by Rs40 per litre in Pakistan. “Despite the record decrease in petroleum prices globally the authorities in Pakistan have not made a significant decrease in POL prices,” the resolution stated.

PPP wants cut in petroleum prices

Earlier, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has raised the demand for bringing down oil prices following the international market rates.  “Oil price dipped down in the international markets, but the government has been looting people by selling the oil at a high price,” said Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, a spokesperson for PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto.

Khokhar said the Imran Khan-led government is refusing to provide relief to the people by transferring the benefits of oil price cut in the international market. “On one hand, Imran Khan is saying people are facing economic problems because of COVID-19 pandemic while his government letting the sale of petroleum products on high prices,” he said, demanding the government reduce the prices of petroleum products.
