Flood in Sutlej wreaks havoc in Kasur

The flow of water in the River Sutlej, at Talwar post Kasur had reached an alarming level of 222955 cusecs which, after all the necessary measures has lowered to 157000 cusecs, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.
Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that another 400 people have been rescued today and 179 have been moved to shelters. All the resources of Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL), Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and Wasa have been provided to the Kasur administration and additional dumpers, trolleys, Trucks and necessary heavy machinery have also reached Kasur. From the 11 medical camps set up in the devastated area of Kasur, 7121 victims have been provided medical aid and medicines while the mobile hospital has treated 1060 people affected by the flood, said Commissioner Lahore.
Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that boats and rafts are constantly circling the affected areas of Sutlej River and all the rural areas in the surrounding are being thoroughly checked for survivors. A full base camp of the entire administrative machinery has been set up at Talwar Post as the relief operation is being directly monitored by the authorities. So far 23764 survivors and 16000 cattle have been rescued from Sutlej river flood areas and shifted to shelters and 8 police posts have been set up to guard the 15 villages vacated under the Section 144.
Commissioner Lahore assured the nation that the flood situation is being fully monitored and full support is being provided to the victims through the relief operation. DC Kasur and DPO Kasur is present at Talwar post for flood rescue and relief operation.
