Affectees of Bhasha Dam threaten to block Karakoram Highway

The affectees of Diamar Bhasha Dam project have threatened to block Karakoram Highway against non-payments of dues for their land, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
The affectees staged a protest demonstration on Karakoram Highway near Chillas Thor area and were also demanding increase in the rates for their land.
“Our lands have been acquired but they were not paid so far and our demand is that we should be paid,” the affectees said.
“If our demands are not accepted within 24 hours, then we will completely block Karakoram with a sit-in,” they threatened.
They were of the view that rate of land fixed in 2007 was Rs125,000 but now at this price the land is not available anywhere.
They further threatened “If the rate is not increased, we will not give our land and will start farming on our land.”
