Imran Khan says Bushra's statement ‘deliberately taken out of context'

Former prime minister Imran Khan has said his spouse Bushra Bibi’s statement was ‘deliberately taken out of context to draw the brotherly country into a needless controversy’.

Taking to X, the PTI founder tweeted: “I have excellent relations with Saudi Arabia. When I was attacked in Wazirabad, one of the first calls I received was, through the embassy, from HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Saudi Arabia has always stood by us in difficult times.”

Imran Khan's tweet comes after his spouse’s video statement sparked criticism and the federal government vowed to take strict action.

Addressing an inauguration ceremony in Taunsa for a flood restoration programme, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recalled the history of Saudi Arabia unconditionally and fully helping out Pakistan through various points in many ways and fronts without asking anything in return, including recent negotiations with the International Monetary Fund.

“I will, unfortunately, have to mention some events here because … a statement has come out yesterday, which I think there can be no greater enmity against Pakistan than this that you spew venom against the country that has never demanded anything in return and always opened its doors for Pakistan,” he said.

Imran Khan’s tweet added: "She (Bushra Bibi) didn't mention Saudi Arabia at all." The PTI founder said his wife has no connection with politics and she only conveyed his message to the nation regarding the November 24 protest.

He called November 24 ‘the day to break free from slavery’ and said that the rule of law, constitution, and human rights were suspended in Pakistan, forcing the nation to come out to protest and make sacrifices.

The former premier said only two weeks before the PTI-led government was toppled.a very successful OIC foreign minister's conference was held in Islamabad, which would have been impossible to do had Saudia Arabia not supported.

He claimed that his government was toppled through conspiracies, all orchestrated by former army chief General Bajwa.
