Police to investigate Imran Khan at Adiala Jail in Sept 28 protest case

A police officer from Rawalpindi’s New Town Police Station has arrived in Adiala Jail to investigate jailed former prime minister Imran Khan in the Sept 28 protest case.
The investigation officer, Inspector Rashid Kiyani, will investigate Imran Khan in the case.
Imran Khan is in the custody of New Town Police on a five-day physical remand in the Sept 28 protest case.
An anti-terrorism court on Thursday had granted New Town Police a five-day physical remand of Imran Khan. After grant of the physical remand, cell 4 of Adiala Jail was declared the area of New Town Police Station. Cell 4’s security was also handed over to New Town Police.
Imran Khan has been incarcerated since August 5, 2023, in dozens of cases and he has been granted bail in most of these cases.
In a related development, surety bonds were deposited in an anti-terrorism court to secure Imran Khan’s bail in another four May 9 cases.
After submission of the surety bonds, the court issued the official permission for Imran Khan’s release from jail. Imran Khan is currently on bail in 12 cases related to the May 9 violence.
Overall, surety bonds have been deposited in 12 May 9 cases for Imran Khan’s release from Adiala Jail.
