Italy's Ambassador to Pakistan Andreas Ferries has revealed that his country had granted visas to more than 15,000 Pakistanis last year, and this year they will issue visas to more Pakistanis.
In an interview with 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday, the Italian envoy said one billion euros were sent to Pakistan by the Pakistani community from Italy during last year.
Andreas Ferraris said that last year Italy gave visas to more than 15,000 Pakistanis. “It hopes the number of visas will increase this year. The Pakistani community from Italy sent 1 billion euros to Pakistan last year,” he added.
To a question, he replied Pakistan, a country of 220 million people, is a big market for Italian goods.
Andreas Ferraris said that like Pakistan Italy is also facing an energy crisis, and both countries are moving towards green energy. “Italy and Pakistan are learning from each other's experiences,” he said.
On tourism, the envoy said they want people of both countries to travel more and more for tourism.
Andras Ferraris said that he had read and heard about the history of Multan and had not yet visited the city, but he will visit Multan in the future.
