Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz expressed his dissatisfaction with the police performance for failing to prevent a successful protest rally organised by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Lahore, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Monday.

According to police sources, CM Maryam reprimanded the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations of Punjab Police (DIG) for not stopping the PTI rally held in Lahore yesterday.

The police sources said after getting reprimandation from the CM, the DIG Operations reproached his subordinates, particularly the Station House Officers (SHOs), for their inability to stop or apprehend the PTI protestors.

The PTI rally took place outside the Lahore Press Club at Shimla Pahari despite prior notification, the police sources said, adding that many participants in the rally were reportedly wanted in various cases.

Separately, CM Maryam Nawaz held a meeting with the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan to discuss the political situation, provincial assembly affairs, and development projects on Monday.

In the meeting, the Speaker praised the Maryam-led Punjab government's efforts to curb artificial inflation and congratulated her on the successful test flight of the country's first air ambulance service.

Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan highlighted significant projects such as the first government cancer hospital, Nawaz Sharif IT City, e-bikes, solar panels, and the air ambulance service describing them as exemplary initiatives.

On this occasion, CM Maryam Nawaz emphasised that her government's primary focus is on providing relief to the poor, aiming to permanently eradicate inflation.
