US comedian Jeremy McLellan has lashed out at authorities for lack of health facilities in the United States.
He posted on his Facebook page that his 9-year-old niece, who has all the symptoms of coronavirus but could not get tested because she is not a rich celebrity.
“Please say a prayer for my 9-year-old niece who has all of the symptoms of coronavirus and is “presumed positive” but can’t get tested because this is America and she’s not a rich celebrity,” he posted on the facebook.
His tweet not only shows how much deepening the coronavirus crisis is but also put a huge question mark on Donald Tump administration’s much trumpeted health initiatives and vows to combat coronavirus while criticising others including China for not doing enough.
His post also opened a Pandora box as a lot of people respond with same stories telling how much difficulties they and their loved ones were facing for not being tested or treated timely despite having the coronavirus-like symptoms.
A user Alisa Antonelli wrote: “My friend in North Carolina had the same. It took a few days for her to finally get tested. That was Tuesday and she still does not have her results. Her pneumonia has almost disappeared though!!”
Jeremy responded: “Makes me wonder how many people are “presumed positive” but told to stay home instead of being tested and so they don’t end up in the official numbers. It’s a good thing I’m stuck at home because I feel like rioting.”
If there is a such dearth of health facilities in the United States, people Pakistan should know their limitations as well and should take every possible measure to evade the disease.
