PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Wednesday confirmed meeting with the COAS on Gilgit-Baltistan issue and said such meetings on national issues is a norm.
He said the parliamentarians met with the COAS in the absence of a failed prime minister though in such meetings the PM must be there.
Addressing a press conference, Bilawal rued that he has to talk about the meeting though it is inappropriate to talk about such meetings being held off-the-record.
“Who did not utter a single word in the meeting are now propagating about the meeting. Usually, no one talks on media on such a meeting but some people have made it a joke.”
He said no such talk happened in the meeting as it was being propagated and the main agenda of the meeting was the issue of the Gilgit-Baltistan.
He said Nawaz Sharif’s speech in the APC has given a good direction to the forum and all want democracy and democratic freedom in the country.
The PP Chairman said they also want an end on censorship on media.
He asked that whoever he (Sh Rashid) is representing must keep him quiet.
Bilawal said there was no representative of Gilgit Baltistan in the meeting and we demanded to include G-B representatives to discuss the issue.
Bilawal said such an environment has been created that suggests that even the matters relating to the national security would also not remained a secret.
Bilawal also urged holding a free and fair election in Gilgit Baltistan and said if the elections were not held in a fair manner then that would pose a security threat to the country.
