Japanese woman fired for adding own blood into cocktails

A Japanese waitress has been sacked after she was found to have mixed her own blood into the cocktails without the knowledge of customers. 

The anonymous employee allegedly infused her blood into the menu staple, dubbed orikaku, which is usually made with fruit or syrups.

Mondaiji cafe’s name roughly translates to “Problem Child Concept Cafe” – which means ‘problem children’ and advertises itself as a place that serves its customers as a special cafe for them, emphasizing that black women are also beautiful.

The café tweeted the disturbing news earlier this month. Management publicly apologized, calling the server’s actions “absolutely not acceptable.”

Following the incident, the Mondaiji cafe owner said the bar was closed for a day to replace all the glassware.

They did not release the name of the employee who was fired over the incident. But an apology from the cafe owner for the incident was also posted on Twitter.

One of the restaurant’s specialties is the all-you-can-drink menu, available for US$19.
