The Islamabad High Court has approved a 15-day protective bail for Alia Hamza, a PTI leader in connection with registered cases against her in Faisalabad and Sargodha.
Advocate Khaqan Mir and Advocate Ishtiaq A. Khan filed the petition on behalf of the PTI leader. The lawyers asked the court for an urgent hearing of the plea.
Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the petition and granted her a protective bail.
Alia Hamza's protective bail covers six FIRs, one filed in Sargodha and five in Faisalabad.
The court has instructed her to appear before the relevant court within 15 days to address the charges.
During the hearing, Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb inquired about Alia Hamza's imprisonment duration.
Her lawyer revealed that she had spent 15 months and six days in jail.
The court then asked how much time the defense needed to prepare, to which her lawyer requested two weeks.
This ruling provides temporary relief to Alia Hamza, allowing her to address the legal challenges she faces in the relevant courts while remaining out of custody during this period.
Aliya Hamza, who was behind the bars in May 9 case, was granted bail by a sessions court in Gujranwala on July 31.
She was released following the submission of surety bonds worth Rs 50,000 and a release order by the trial court.
After the release, the PTI leader left for her residence from the prison. The PTI leader was re-arrested on June 6 in another case about violence on May 9 following her bail by an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in a similar case.
