All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) on Friday said that 30 to 40 per cent of production capacity has been cut off due to closure of private power plants which raised the concern of the exporters in the availability of the lack of gas pressure, reported 24NewsHD TV.

APTMA said the government and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) had assured the association to supply 75 million cubic feet of gas to power plants in winter.

APTMA Executive Director (ED) Shahid Sattar has said the gas supply to all private power plants across the country was 200 million cubic feet.

APTMA ED has said that after the gas shut off, there are severe difficulties in running the boilers.

APTMA has said in a working paper that energy subsidies to the textile sector have also been significantly reduced.

As per the statement of APTMA, energy subsidies to the textile sector have dropped significantly by 61 percent this financial year.
