Two Army soldiers were martyred during a gunbattle with terrorists in Balochistan, said the military’s media wing, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday morning, the terrorists targeted a checkpost of the security forces in the Kech District of Balochistan.
The attack prompted quick retaliation from the personnel of the security forces and in the ensuing firefight, two soldiers were martyred.
According to the ISPR, during the exchange of fire, Lance Naik Manzar Abbas, resident of District Khushab and Sepoy Abdul Fath, resident of Khuzdar embraced martyrdom.
A follow-operation has been launched in the Kech District to hunt down the fleeing terrorists.
The ISPR statement said security forces were determined to defeat such acts of inimical elements, aimed at disrupting peace, stability and progress of the Balochistan province.
A day earlier, three people were injured in a grenade attack in Khuzdar. Police said a hand grenade was tossed at a petrol pump in Wadh Bazaar, as a result of which three people got injured.
About 10 days ago, a soldier was killed in a check post attack along the Iran border in Balochistan. The incident happened when a group of terrorists targeted the check post where an undisclosed number of soldiers were deployed for security duty.
The soldier was killed during a heavy exchange of fire, and losses were also inflicted on the fleeing terrorists in a retaliatory attack by the check post staff.
The ISPR said militants were attempting to sabotage hard-earned peace in Balochistan, adding that security forces “will foil heinous designs of the enemies of Pakistan”.
Terrorist attacks on civilians have notably decreased over the few years due to extensive operations against terrorists in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. However, the terrorists keep on launching sporadic attacks on security forces along with border towns of the two provinces.
Last month, two soldiers were killed when terrorists targeted a security check post in Kech district located along the border with Iran.
