The British Council Pakistan Friday announced the third cohort of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Scholarships for women.
As per the announcement, over 100 scholarships are available for women STEM scholars from Asia and the Americas to pursue a master's degree in the United Kingdom, with 48 scholarships reserved for female STEM scholars from Pakistan and other South Asian countries.
The British Council Pakistan said the scholarships are awarded on merit with no country-specific cap.
The scholarships will help selected women scholars advance their careers in STEM and enable them to support research and innovation in their home countries by exposing them to knowledge in the UK's famous STEM sectors.
The scholarship scheme, in collaboration with 21 universities across the UK, will provide scholars with a fully-funded master's degree or an Early Academic Fellowship at a UK university, including tuition, stipend, travel costs, visa, health coverage fees, special support for mothers, and English language support.
The scholarships will also offer the students with a long-term platform to connect with the UK through active participation in the alumni network, as well as inspire the next generation of female STEM leaders.
In the most recent cohort, 115 scholars from throughout the world were chosen, including 15 women scholars from Pakistan.
"The UK has a world-renowned higher education sector that is really international," stated Amir Ramzan, Country Director, BCP. These scholarships will enable outstanding women to take up a life-changing chance to enhance their careers in their chosen STEM professions, and then to harness the experience to make a greater influence for good when they return home".
"Last year's scholars from Pakistan explored intriguing and diverse fields including Digital Health Systems, Data and Decision Analytics, Virtual and Augmented Reality and Environmental Sustainability. I would strongly encourage brilliant ladies from all around Pakistan to apply for this scholarship as soon as possible."
Women with dependents can also apply for the award and receive additional assistance. The application deadline varies every university, however it is usually between March and May this year.
Students should check specific university deadlines.
