PPP Chairman and former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has confirmed his plans to attend a breakfast to be hosted by US President Donald Trump, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Talking to the media after holding a meeting with Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani in Islamabad on Friday, Bilawal addressed questions about missing the oath-taking ceremony of newly-elected US President Donald Trump.
Bilawal remarked, “The news about attending the inauguration was reported by the media. You should ask them.”
However, Bilawal assured his attendance at the breakfast, stating, “I will, God willing, attend the breakfast as it has been a tradition since my mother’s time.”
He clarified that the visit would be unofficial as he currently holds no ministerial or government position. During the US visit, he also plans to meet some of his friends.
When asked about the possibility of the PPP joining the federal cabinet as a key ally of the Nawaz League government, Bilawal strongly denied such speculations, asserting that the PPP had no intention of joining the cabinet. He, however, asserted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will complete his term.
Answering another question, Bilawal Bhutto said that the PPP made many amendments to the PECA Act, but the PPP does not have the majority to pass the bill at its own will.
To another query, the PPP chairman made it crystal clear that only Parliament can repeal the 26th Constitutional Amendment.
Another petition filed against 26th Amendment
Another petition has been filed in Supreme Court against the 26th Constitutional Amendment.
The petition was filed by Advocate Waseem Abbas on Friday.
The petition sought to declare the 26th Constitutional Amendment null and void.
