The administration sealed an illegal theatre in Lahore on Thursday. nan Bashir Warraich, Assistant Commissioner HR & Coord Lahore, sealed the Punjabi theatre operating without a license.

The authorities in Punjab intensified efforts to curb obscenity and vulgarity in theatre performances across the province.

Acting on the directives of Punjab Information and Culture Minister Azma Bukhari and Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Culture Shazia Rizwan, officials sealed two theatres last week for violating cultural norms.

Assistant Commissioner Hakim Khan sealed the Moti Mahal Theatre in Rawalpindi, while concerned officials have sealed Nagina Theatre in Sheikhupura. The actions were taken following reports of breaches of the ethical code of conduct.

In a recent meeting, the parliamentary secretary instructed officials to thoroughly investigate allegations of vulgarity and take strict measures against violators.

During briefings with deputy commissioner (DC) and assistant commissioner (AC), Rizwan emphasized the importance of upholding cultural and social values, leading to the immediate sealing of the offending theatres.

“The government is committed to providing quality entertainment while eliminating unethical acts presented under the guise of art,” Shazia Rizwan stated, reiterating the administration's firm stance on ensuring decency in theatre productions.
