The Sindh government has decided to refund the amount deducted from the salaries of the employees on account of contribution to the Sindh Flood Relief Fund (SFRF), reported the 24NewsHd TV channel.
The government established the “Sindh Flood Relief Fund” to help out the affected persons in the wake of the torrential rains and flash floods throughout the Province of Sindh in August 2022.
Under a particular formula, the provincial government deducted money from the employees, including college and university teachers as well as judicial staff’s salaries.
This move sent a wave of resentment and shocked those low cadre staff who themselves hail from the calamity-hit areas in the province.
Scores of employees including doctors, judges, and teachers approached the Sindh High Court against deduction from their salaries for SFRF.
Eventually, the apex court ordered the government to return the deducted amount to the employees.
Now, the government decided to return all deducted money from the salaries of the employees in August 2022.
The Sindh Finance Department sent a letter to the Accountant General Sindh and District Financial Officers with the instructions to execute the court decision in the letter and spirit.
