Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday accepted the resignation of his special assistant on finance and revenue Dr Waqar Masood, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Dr Masood had given resignation from his post yesterday (Tuesday, August 24).
Sources have told 24News TV channel that differences developed between Dr Masood and Minister for Finance Shaukat Tarin led to former’s resignation.
While the former assistant to PM was in favour of the restoration of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme and raise in the electricity tariff, the minister for finance, on the other hand, thought otherwise.
The sources disclosed that Tarin also had the impression that he was not being taken on board prior to some important decisions, and that Dr Masood was taking decisions on his own.
Dr Masood, on the other hand, complained that his recommendations were ignored.
Despite repeated attempts by the media to hear his side of the story, Dr Waqar Masood declined to comment on reasons of his resignation.
