Rejecting the result of by-election held in Kurram on February 19, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) President and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Thursday called upon the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to take notice of ‘rigging’ in the constituency, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Talking to the media in Peshawar, he alleged that election results were tampered with both in Kurram and in NA-75 Daska Sialkot.
He further said that there was bloodshed in South Waziristan as two tribes were fighting with each other.
Fazl said either the administration in South Waziristan was feeling helpless or it did not want that the violence came to an end which had claimed the lives of five people so far.
JUI-F chief said that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) candidate who was on third position in Daska by-election was declared the winner by his party leadership. “We do not accept the results of by-election in NA-75 Daska,” he said categorically.
PDM president called for bringing an end to the tribal conflict in South Waziristan, and restoring tribal areas’ special status.
He informed that he had submitted a petition in the Supreme Court (SC), in which the apex court had been requested to immediately take up FATA issue for hearing.
