A soldier was martyred while three others injured when terrorists opened fire on security forces in Turbat on Saturday, said a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

According to the ISPR, the members of the security forces were attacked when they were on a routine patrolling near Pidarak area of District Kech, about 35 kilometres south-east of Turbat in Balochistan.

Exchange of firing also took place which resulted in the martyrdom of Lance Naik Javed Karim while three other soldiers got injured.

The security forces personnel cordoned off the area and launched a hunt for the terrorists.

On Tuesday last also, a man was killed and seven others were injured when a bomb exploded in a Turbat market. The blast was carried out with the help of an improvised explosive device (IED) which was fitted to a motorcycle.

The explosion caused damage to several vehicles including a nearby auto workshop. Windows of nearby buildings broke due to the intensity of the blast.

One man was killed and seven others were injured in the bomb blast. The injured were shifted to a hospital in Turbat by the security and rescue personnel.

Nobody claimed responsibility for the blast so far.

Balochistan in recent months has seen an increase in attacks. Earlier in May, six security forces personnel, including one officer, were martyred when a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) struck their vehicle near Pakistan-Iran border.
