A local court in Lahore has accepted the post-arrest bail of former Punjab chief minister and PTI President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in a money laundering case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Special Judge Central Bakht Fakhar heard the post-arrest bail application filed by Elahi on Saturday.

At the outset of the hearing, the judge inquired prosecutor Amjad Pervaiz how did the authorities register an FIR against the former chief minister.

The advocate said that Pervaiz Elahi’s son, Moonis Elahi had got shares in the companies of Jibran.

But the judge asked the lawyer to tell him about the charge under which the FIR was registered and Pervaiz Elahi was put behind the bars.

The lawyer confessed that Elahi was not included in the police investigation and he was arrested in haste.

Hearing this, the judge granted post-arrest bail to Elahi on account of providing unsatisfactory answers by the investigation officer.

On Tuesday, shortly after an anti-corruption court accepted Pervaiz Elahi’s bail in a separate case related to illegal recruitment in the Punjab Assembly, the FIA's anti-money laundering circle booked Elahi and his son, Moonis Elahi, on charges of money laundering. They were accused of concealing a significant amount of money through five Panamanian companies.
