Canal breach destroys paddy fields in Depalpur

Several villages in Depalpur, a tehsil of Okara district, have been inundated after a breach occurred in a canal, destroying standing paddy fields, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The TV channel reported that local administration has not yet started any rescue operation. However, Xen Depalpur Muhammad Tahir said the flow of water from the canal has been stopped and the work to repair the embankment will be started soon. “The biggest obstacle in closing the breach is the electricity poles along the canal,” Muhammad Tahir said.

He further said as soon as the water level lowers the machinery will reach the spot to repair the canal breach.
