The routes are heavily guarded, with roads blocked by containers, and mobile phone services have been suspended in several areas of Karachi to ensure the safety of the participants in the processions. Air surveillance of the processions is also continuing in the city.
In Lahore, the central procession of Shabeeh Tazia began at Haveli Alif Shah in Androon Dehli Darwaza and will conclude at Karbala Gamay Shah by night.
The Alif Shah Haveli's procession was preceded by a Majlis, where Allama Shabeeh Haider Shirazi spoke about the virtues and sufferings of the martyrs of Karbala.
