A PML-N worker, who was slapped two days ago, joined the local party leaders in Bahawalpur to chant the slogan of “Vote ko Izzat Do” [respect the vote] after former state minister Mian Baleegh-ur-Rehman sympathised with him personally, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

“Workers are party’s assets. We respect them,” said the PML-N leader but added that he wasn’t slapped intentionally. However, this apology was possible only after 24NewsHD highlighted the issue.

“Naveed is my little brother who loves the party,” he said after which the aggrieved worker chanted slogans along with the PML-N leaders present on the occasion.

The unfortunate incident occurred on June 24 when PML-N Punjab President Rana Sanaullah reached the venue to address a workers convention held in connection with the planned visit by Maryam Nawaz next month.

It was the residence of former MPA Khalid Mehmood Jajja who suddenly slapped Naveed only because he wanted a selfie with Rana Sana as charged party workers and supporters surrounded him on his arrival.

Obviously, the slap couldn’t be missed as multiple TV channels were covering the event. Thus, cameras caught the very moment this incident happened. Later, not only 24NewsHD but also people on social media raised the issue which has now ended with an apology and chants of respect the vote.
