Singer Ali Zafar in his singer of the year award’s winning speech at the 21st Lux Style Awards 2022 spoke out in front of the whole audience in favour of the transgender community.
He voiced out that the marginalized people in our society should be awarded and acknowledged just like all the other stars.
He put in a request to Lux and Unilever to have a category next year which is entirely dedicated to transgenders and have an ambassador for beauty from amongst them.
He took to his Instagram and shared the video with a long note saying, “I do wish to highlight the plight of our Khwaja Saras (transgenders) and their rights. The marginalised in the society must be heard and given the attention and love they deserve”.
Further, he wrote, “When we @alizafar_foundation started our food/Rashan drive during Covid, we first reached out to and included the KhwajaSira/Transgender community, followed by the Christian community and needy musicians. This was done with the intention to make them feel that they are an equal and respected part of our society”.

Concluding the note he added,“I feel the most important thing we need to learn is to be tolerant to each others’ beliefs and be able to have an open discourse with the will to understand each other with love, compassion and kindness in our hearts. However, what we see mostly is a very closed, regressive and egoistic approach to issues. That can never pave the way to a brighter and more progressive future. Replace every emotion with LOVE and then see the magic. Love to all”.
