Granting interim bails to two PTI leaders in the party’s foreign funding case, registered under the Foreign Exchange Act, until October 31, 2022, a banking court in Islamabad on Wednesday issued a notice to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Approving the bail applications of Tariq Shafi and Faisal Maqbool, the court also directed them to deposit surety bonds of Rs0.1 million each.
Raja Asif Mehmood heard the PTI leaders’ petitions as a duty judge on account of the absence of Judge Rakhshinda Shaheen.
Speaking on the occasion, Raja Qadeer, counsel for the PTI leaders, told the judge that on the orders of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), the case had been transferred to the banking court, and that both the suspects had appeared before an FIA team of interrogators on October 20, 2022.
He also informed that the IHC had already granted protective bails to his clients for two weeks.
It is pertinent to mention here that a special judge central has already granted interim bail to the former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan, a co-suspect in the case, until October 31.
