A petition has been moved in the Lahore High Court against the Punjab Governor seeking his removal from the gubernatorial post, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The petition was filed in the Lahore High Court on Tuesday from a citizen, Shabbir Ismail. The petition made principal secretary to president, principal secretary to prime minister, principal secretary to governor and Punjab Assembly speaker as respondents.
The petition states that if the provincial assembly is in session, then the governor could not summon a new session.
The Punjab governor despite the fact that the assembly was already in session, called a new session and asked the chief minister to obtain vote of confidence.
The petition further states that as per the law, 4 to 7 days are allotted to obtain vote of confidence. But the Punjab governor de-notified the chief minister the very next day.
The petitioner said that he wrote letters to the president and prime minister against this unconstitutional step of the governor, but no action was taken against the latter.
The petitioner pleaded with the court to order the president and prime minister to remove Governor Balighur Rehman from his office.
