A 10-year-old child has been crippled by polio in Dingam district of Kunar province Afghanistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

According to National Institute of Health (NIH) Islamabad the polio case reported in Afghanistan is the first case of 2024.

Afghanistan's Kunar province shares borders with Pakistan, revealed the officials of NIH.

They said that the poliovirus from Kunar province is similar to the poliovirus found in Peshawar.

Polio virus was found in 124 environmental samples in Pakistan last year, officials said.

“More cases of polio are expected to be reported in Afghanistan and Pakistan this year”, officials said.
