In order to bolster bilateral coordination in combating terrorism, Pakistan and the United States have agreed to hold counter-terrorism dialogue in June this year, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The agreement reached during a meeting between US Acting Ambassador Natalie Baker and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad on Thursday.
During the meeting, both sides discussed Pakistan-US relations, mutual cooperation against terrorism, and other key areas of bilateral interest.
The US envoy condemned recent terrorist attacks, including the Jaffer Express attack, and expressed condolences to the families of victims.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasised that terrorism is an international challenge requiring collective global efforts.
Moshin Naqvi appreciated US President Donald Trump for acknowledging Pakistan’s role in the fight against terrorism.
The interior minister assured the envoy that Pakistan would fully cooperate in repatriating illegal Pakistani immigrants from the US.
He also confirmed that Pakistan is taking robust action against terrorists and formulating a comprehensive counter-terrorism policy.
Additionally, the Pak-US Caucus meeting is scheduled to be held on April 30 in New York to further discuss strategic cooperation.
State Minister Talal Chaudhry, US Political Counsellor Zeke Harken Rider, and Federal Secretary for Interior Khurram Agha were also present at the meeting.
Natalie Baker congratulated Talal Chaudhry on assuming office as Minister of State for Interior and praised the development projects in Islamabad.
