In an important development in the petition filed by Bushra Bibi, wife of former prime minister and ex-PTI chairman Imran Khan, against the audio leaks, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Saturday asked Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge Justice Babar Sattar to recuse himself from the case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In a miscellaneous application filed in the IHC, the Authority said since another bench of the high court had already given its verdict in a case of a similar nature; therefore it was requested that the same bench be allowed to hear whatever was remaining in this case.
The PEMRA said it was unfortunate that despite the fact that its chairman had appeared in the court several times in connection with the hearing of the case, the decision in the case was yet to be pronounced. “It would be better that Justice Sattar recuses himself from the case so that requirements of justice could be met,” read the petition.
It merits mention here that a bench, headed by Justice Babar Sattar, is due to hear Bushra’s petition a day after tomorrow (April 29).
