Little girl falls prey to kite string in Lahore

A six-year-old girl Hareem Fatima died when the string of a stray kite slit open her throat in Sanda area of Lahore on Sunday, police and rescue workers said, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Kite flying had been banned across Punjab since the fun-sport turned deadly with people using strings coated with metal or glass to beat other players in kite-flying, instead it leads to slitting throats of the people especially the children.
Hareem Fatima was going home on motorbike with her father when the metallic string slit through her neck. Hareem was rushed to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar took notice of the incident and sought a report from CCPO Lahore. Meanwhile, the Station House Office (SHO) of Sanda Police Station has been suspended and ordered to report to Police Lines.
The chief minister expressed his condolences to the bereaved family.
A furious Usman Buzdar said kite-flying is not tolerable at any cost and the police must take measures to curb the practice that has now taken life of six-year-old innocent girl.
Usman Buzdar said legal action without any discrimination will be taken against whosoever’s negligence will be found in this incident.
