Are you tired of seeing posts from people you don’t follow take up space on your Facebook feed, overshadowing updates from friends and family? Facebook is making it easier to keep up with those you care about with the new Friends tab in the app.

Meta announced on Thursday that U.S. and Canadian users can now access a feed dedicated solely to content from their friends through the Friends tab. This feature is part of a series of “OG” Facebook updates that aim to bring the platform back to its roots in the 2000s.

You’ll find the Friends tab in the tab bar at the bottom of your Home feed. Here, you can catch up on posts, stories, and Reels from your friends. It also shows recent birthdays, friend requests, and a “People You May Know” section.

If you don’t see the Friends tab, you can customize your tab bar to add it. Just tap your profile picture in the Home feed, go to Settings & Privacy, then Settings, and select Tab bar. From there, you can pin the Friends tab. Alternatively, you can long-press the tab bar and choose “Customize your tab bar” to add it.

The Friends tab mirrors a feature Meta introduced on Threads in 2023, where users could filter their feed to show only posts from accounts they follow. A similar feature has also been added on X (formerly Twitter). However, Facebook’s Friends tab is aimed at bringing the platform back to its core purpose — connecting you with your closest friends and family.
