Woman dies in stampede at ration distribution in Kashmore

A stampede during ration and Zakat distribution in Eidgah Mohalla, Kashmore, turned tragic on Friday, leaving one woman dead and four others injured, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
Tragedy strikes during aid distribution
According to rescue sources, the injured women were immediately shifted to a hospital for treatment, while the deceased woman’s body was handed over to her family.
Sources said victims belonged to different areas of the Kashmore district, and authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the chaos.
Not the first incident
It is noteworthy that a similar incident occurred on June 26, 2023, when a stampede broke out during cash distribution under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) in Karachi's Kemari area.
In that incident, one woman died and several others fainted due to the heat and stampede. Eight women were rushed to the Trauma Centre of the Civil Hospital in Karachi.
Authorities had suspended the distribution of BISP stipends, which had resumed after a two-day suspension.
BISP stipends of Rs 9,000 per family continued to be provided to 9 million deserving families across Pakistan.
Monitoring teams were also deployed to ensure transparency and prevent mismanagement during the distribution process.
