Corona treatment will be done through nasal spray and University of Health Sciences (UHS) has started a clinical trial in collaboration with British institutions, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday. 

British scientist Dr Isaac John along with Dr Meera Nader, Clinical Researcher of Ashford and St. Peter's Hospital, UK reached Lahore to start the trial.

The efficacy of the nasal spray called ‘Xlear’ will be tested for the treatment of Corona and the trial will be held at the University of Health Sciences with the participation of Lahore General Hospital. 

80 volunteers will be enrolled in the Phase II clinical trial.

The research team from Pakistan will be led by Vice Chancellors of UHS Professor Ahsan Waheed Rathore and Director of Research Professor Saqib Mehmood.

The clinical trial will be completed by January 2023 and the spray will be used as a weapon against Corona if it yields positive results. 

The funds for the clinical trial will be provided by the American company XLEAR.

The Training of UHS researchers has been started for successful conduct of clinical trial and Dr. Isaac John explained the protocols of the trial I n the training. 

In the meantime, Vice Chancellor UHS Professor Ahsan Waheed Rathore was also present in the training session.

Moreover, Prof. Ahsan Waheed Rathore will benefit from the experience of British experts in terms of research and development.

It is pertinent to note that Nasal Spray Xlear is a natural product distilled from plants and Xlear has been used as an antiviral spray in Europe and North America for the past ten years. It is considered very safe for patients.
