Two telecom workers lynched by mob in Karachi

In an incident of mob violence, two telecom workers who were thought to be ‘kidnappers’ by people were mercilessly lynched by them in Kamyari area in Karachi on Friday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
SSP Kamyari Fida Hussain Janwari reached Maripur, Machhar Colony where the incident happened.
According to him, the deceased were workers of a telecom company who came to check the mobile phone signals in the area.
The SSP further said that it was a backward area where a rumor was doing rounds that children were being abducted here. When the poor telecom workers reached the place, people thinking them as kidnappers pounced on them, he added.
The SSP said that police were looking into the matter from different angles. He promised to arrest all the accused involved in the lynching.
Janwari informed that police also recorded statement of an eyewitness.
According to details, residents of Maripur Machhar Colony in Kamyari area got hold of two people taking them as kidnappers near Elahi Mosque. Instead of handing them over to police, the people took the law into their own hands and started beating them. The torture by the mob was so severe that they both succumbed to their injuries.
Citizens alleged that the slain persons were kidnappers whom they lynched.
Police reached the venue and took the bodies in their custody. They shifted the bodies to the Civil Hospital.
The investigation of the incident was underway.
