Once again Lahore has been declared as the most-polluted city due to thick smog coupled with dust in the air while residents are facing difficulty in breathing due to poor air quality, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel on Monday.


Regional Met officials said that increase in pollution and smog is due to extra-ordinary increase in air pressure from Amritsar, India.


Air Quality Index (AQI) reached to alarming figure of 538 in Lahore while during morning timings AQI was recorded at 707 percent.


Different AQI were also recorded at different locations of the city, in Thokar Niaz Baig and its adjacent areas AQI was touched to 878, in Johar Town 893, Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam 633 and on Miratib Ai Road AQI was recorded 754 percent.


Met office officials advised citizens to avoid coming out of their home without wearing mask. They said that an alarming increase in Air Quality Index witnessed during last twenty-four hours in smog air reaching Lahore from Amritsar.


These polluted and smoggy air entering Chandigarh and then in Amristar before arriving Lahore.
