Five years since renowned Qawwal and Naat Khawan Amjad Sabri’s tragic death.

Observing the fifth death anniversary of the carrier of an immensely ‘soul-shattering’ voice, let’s pay a tribute to the Pakistani qawwal, naat khawan and a proponent of the Sufi Muslim tradition Amjad Farid Sabri.

Amjad became the victim of a very heart-wrenching death and was targeted by militants on the 16th of Ramazan in Liaquatabad – Karachi (2016).

Amjad was widely appreciated and acclaimed for his melodious voice.

The news of his death took everyone by shock and he had a massive funeral which thousands of people attended. 

Amjab Sabri following in the footsteps of the family tradition dedicated his whole life to Sufi qawwali. 

Many might not know but Tajdar-e-Haram is one of Amjad’s kalaam.

Amjad also took part in one of Coke Studio sessions with renowned singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and performed ‘Aaj Rang Hai’ which was another brilliant piece. 

Soon after, he passed away in 2016.
