Pakistan to take on Malaysia in Sultan Azlan Shah Cup opener

Pakistan will play their first match at the 29th edition of Sultan Azlan Shah Cup against hosts Malaysia on April 11 at Azlan Shah Stadium in Ipoh, Malaysia.
The six-team tournament will run from April 11 to April 18 in which a total of 18 matches would be played. Along with Pakistan and hosts Malaysia, Australia, Canada, Japan and Korea complete the line-up for the annual showpiece hockey event.
The participation in this prestigious event will provide more exposure and experience to men in green who are in re-building process and the selectors are looking to infuse young blood in the team keeping with a goal to create a formidable completion for the marquee event of the game, Olympics 2024.
Pakistan will play their second match against Canada next day. In the eighth match of the event, Pakistan would take on Korea on Apr 14 and next would be Asian champions Japan on Apr 10. Pakistan would face the most difficult opponents Australia in their last match of the league stage on April 17 and subject to their standing they would play another match on the final day for the final placings of the teams.
