"The New Season of the Emirates Ice Hockey League"

The 2024/2025 season of the Emirates Ice Hockey League (EIHL) began on October 1 with an opening game led by the Dubai Mighty Camels, the leading professional hockey team in the Middle East. This historic team, fully owned by Emirates Sports Group and chaired by Vladimir Burdun, Founder and CEO of Emirates Sports Group, has evolved into a symbol of hockey excellence in the region. Established nearly 20 years ago, the Dubai Mighty Camels marked the beginning of professional ice hockey in the UAE.

Featuring a roster that includes both expatriate athletes and Emirati players, the team exemplifies the growing appeal of hockey among locals, with many joining youth development programs to secure a bright future for the sport.

"The Launch of the First Professional Ice Rink – A Game-Changer for Winter Sports"

To address infrastructure challenges, Vladimir Burdun, Founder and CEO of Emirates Sports Group and Chairman of the Dubai Mighty Camels Ice Hockey Team, is leading efforts to launch the first professional ice rink in the Middle East. Scheduled to open in early 2025 at Dubai Sports City, this state-of-the-art facility will feature an Olympic-sized ice surface, seating for thousands of spectators, and world-class amenities designed to support both local and international competitions.

Beyond hosting hockey games, the rink will serve as a hub for figure skating, curling, and other winter sports, expanding the UAE's role as a regional leader in winter sports innovation.
