Punjab CM visits Safe City Authority, reviews Muharram security measures

Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the Safe City Authority office in Lahore to review Muharram security measures.

Mohsin Naqvi inspected the routes of the processions on the digital wall and reviewed monitoring measures to ensure foolproof security.

The chief minister Mohsin Naqvi met the police communication officers and other on-duty staff. He laid stress on performing duties diligently.

Punjab Safe Cities Authority MD Kamran Khan briefed the chief minister about the arrangements, saying that all points are being scanned and for that purpose, portable cameras have also been installed.

Police communication officers and technical teams are keeping a vigilant eye round-the-clock through the Safe City Operation and Monitoring Centre, he added. Chief secretary, IGP, Lahore commissioner, DC, CCPO and other officials concerned were present on the occasion.

The Punjab chief minister told the media that only 2,000 cameras were functional in Lahore earlier. Now 6,500 cameras of the Safe City Authority are functional in Lahore, he said, adding 1,500 more cameras of the district government and 624 special cams have been installed to keep a vigilant eye to avert any untoward incident.

The government is committed to its obligations, he said, adding the provincial ministers are too in field to monitor the arrangements for maintaining law and order.

The chief secretary and IG have visited Rawalpindi and reviewed the arrangements there while Wasa has been alerted to drain out rainwater as rainfall is possible, the minister maintained.

He stressed the need for following in the footsteps of the Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA). He laid emphasis on unity and harmony.
