Sindh Information Minister Saeed Ghani has said the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) will hold a special ceremony on October 17 to pay tribute to the Karsaz tragedy victims.
The Sindh information minister told the 24NewsHD TV channel exclusively that PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will address the gathering and he will shed light on the ongoing situation in the country.
On October 18, 2007, the Karsaz tragedy took place when a motorcade carrying former PM Benazir Bhutto came under terror attack, claiming more than 180 lives and leaving 500 injured.
Two explosions occurred in front of the rallying truck from which the first woman premier of a Muslim state greeted her supporters on her return from an eight-year self-imposed exile.
The bombings took place just two months before the assassination of two-time premier Benazir Bhutto in 2007. Reports said 20 policemen embraced martyrdom in the tragedy too.
Saeed Ghani said that PM Imran Khan disclosed that dialogues with a few factions of defunct Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were held. He stressed that a single party sitting in the power corridor had no right and justification to hold dialogues with the killers of 70,000 Pakistanis. The parliament should be told as to why this is going to take place and what is the aim of this act?
The Sindh minister took a swipe at the federal government for its failure to provide the people with relief from rampant inflation, saying that petroleum prices have been on the hike and such surges have no precedent in the history of Pakistan. This government has been adding to public problems, he said adding that the common persons were finding it hard to make ends meet.
